Online Contracting

access contracting @ agent resource portal
SureLC by SuranceBay
We process nearly all contracting through this online portal. Upon registration most of your data will be pre-filled from the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). Be sure to upload the following documents if they are not already there:
  • E&O Certificate
  • Void Check for direct deposit
  • LTC CE Certificates* (8hr initial and most recent 4hr refresher)
  • Annuity 4hr CE Certificate*
  • AML*

If you have used SureLC with any other carrier or BGA before, that data, including your uploaded documents will usually port right over when you register for SureLC again with us.

* SureLC has the option to provide your login credentials for direct import of documentation from various providers. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

REQUIRED - Errors & Omissions Coverage (E&O)
The vast majority of insurance companies require you have a minimum of $1,000,000 per claim / $1,000,000 aggregate in E&O coverage prior to solicitation of any line of business. If you are working in and agency and your agency provides E&O coverage, they must provide documentation that you are covered under their E&O policy. If you do not have E&O you can obtain it through multiple sources, including our online contracting provider, SuranceBay, or through the NAILBA Agents E&O program (right side of page). We do not endorse or receive compensation or any particular E&O provider.

Training Resources

LIMRA
AML and BI Training
LIMRA is the most widely accepted AML training and is free to producers as it's paid for by the insurance companies. LIMRA offers training for Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Understanding Best Interest: NY Reg 187 for Producers (BI), and Recognizing Financial Exploitation (RFE).
RegEd
Annuity Training (also offers BI)
RegEd is the most common annuity training provider and is also free to producers, paid for by the insurance companies. However if you elect to get CE credit you will be charged for that. RegEd is where you can find most product specific training courses. Ask for the AIP Annuity Product Training Chart for course codes and instructions.
Continuing Education
CE Courses (LTC and Annuity)
These standardized courses are available from most any online CE provider such as WebCE, Quest CE, Success CE, Kaplan, and others. We do not endorse any particular provider. An average single course fee will usually run $15-$20 and many offer package deals on 24 hours of CE credit.

Training Requirements

REQUIRED - Licensed Before Solicitation
It should go without saying, but you are required to be licensed in any jurisdiction prior to solicitation of business. That includes required training, but not limited to, what is listed below. If you are uncertain what constitutes 'solicitation' of business, check the regulations of the jurisdiction (state) where you are intending to do business.
Life Insurance (non-variable)
  • Insurance license with LIFE LOA*
  • Anti-Money Laundering Training (AML) - required annually
  • Indexed Universal Life - a few carriers have their own required training to offer IUL product, check with the carrier prior to completing an application
Annuities (non-variable)
  • Insurance license with ANNUITY LOA (often included in LIFE LOA)*
  • 4-hour Annuity Suitability CE course (one-time only)
  • Product specific training required prior to solicitation/application
  • NAIC model best interest regulations exist in more than a dozen states, check with the Annuity Team to confirm requirements in the state you intend to write business in
Long-Term Care Solutions
  • Insurance license w/HEALTH LOA*
  • 8-hour Initial LTC CE course (one-time only)
  • 4-hour Refresher LTC CE course (required every two years)
  • Linked-benefit solutions also require the corresponding life/annuity training requirements for their respective combo solutions such as hybrid LTC and LTC riders
NY and other state-specific requirements
  • NY Reg 187 (aka Reg BI, Best Interest) - require for any life business
  • CA has their own requirements for LTC and annuity suitability
  • Other state variations exist, contact Contracting if writing business in a new state for the first time to make sure you are compliant before soliciting business
* License type should be Insurance Producer or Insurance Agent, not all carriers accept Broker licenses. Varies by state. Certain states also have a separate license type or LOA for fraternal insurance organizations. LOA = Line of Authority
